Hey Reader!
Remember when everybody was starting their LinkedIn posts like this?
“I spent 8 months living with bonobos and here’s what they taught me about B2B sales”
or
“I made $92,734 selling utter crap: here’s how you can too!”
(Yeah, that's still happening..)
To me, these are flashings neon signs screaming, “Run, I’m selling you something that sucks!”
And honestly, it’s kind of poetic.
Because the one thing that makes a great hook today?
Not looking like every other hook.
That’s the thing about marketing trends, they burn bright and fast.
And look, I get it.
It’s easy to feel like you’re falling behind when every marketing guru is yelling, “keep up or get left behind!”
They tell you their frameworks will double your revenue.
They’ll 100x your engagement while you sleep.
But none of it is working.
And now you’re suddenly googling how to start a goat farm because everything feels fake and overwhelming.
(Or was that just me 😏)
Yeah, maybe that was just me.
Here’s the truth that the gatekeepers really don't want you to know:
You’re not behind.
You’re not missing anything.
And you’re not stupid.
(Even though they try really hard to make you feel this way)
Marketing doesn’t change as much as they want you to think it does.
What works?
- Identifying a real problem (with research)
- Telling stories that helps your audience imagine a solution to that problem while making them feel something
- Present that solution to them in a way that excites them and makes it damn-near impossible not to buy.
That’s it. That’s the “secret.”
So, the next time you’re tempted by someone screaming about the one hack you need to survive the algorithm apocalypse, do me a favour:
Look in the mirror and repeat after me:
“I’m smart. I’m capable. I don’t need a $1,999 course to prove it.”
And then go write a story that actually connects with your audience.
Not because it’s trendy, but because it’s honest and it's what works.
Your long game is what wins.
Always.
And if you’re ready to stop chasing trends and start building a marketing approach that lasts, I’d love to help.
My one-on-one storytelling workshops are designed to help you find a story, a message and a service that works.

No gimmicks.
No jargon.
Just you, your stories, and a content strategy that grows with you.
